A small reminder you are not alone
A Box of Hope was created from a simple but urgent realization: for many children and teens, the hardest part of a psychiatric emergency room visit is not just the crisis itself it is the waiting. The uncertainty. The silence. The feeling of being completely alone in a room full of strangers.
We saw how young people often sit for hours not knowing what will happen next, how long they will be there, or why their world suddenly feels so overwhelming. In those moments, fear grows. Isolation deepens.
A Box of Hope was founded to meet that exact moment.
Each box contains a short note written by another young person who has been through a similar experience someone who understands what that waiting feels like. Alongside the note are a few simple, hospital-approved comfort items meant to provide calm and grounding during an intensely vulnerable time.
We do not aim to replace professional care. We do not offer medical advice. Our purpose is simpler and just as powerful: to remind a child that they are not alone.
Because sometimes, getting through the next hour is everything. And sometimes, that hour matters most.
